Biography

Dr. Eric Gilbreath is Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry. He completed his training in General Psychiatry as well as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. While living in Houston he managed the Psychiatric Emergency Department for the Mental Health Mental Retardation Association, a community mental health crisis facility. This included acute stabilization, crisis intervention, and triage for Harris County, with a catchment area of 6 million people.

After training Dr. Gilbreath began private practice for Peacehealth Medical Group in Longview, Washington, where he worked for 3 1/2 years. This experience included outpatient and inpatient care for both adults and children. He worked in a 40 bed long-term residential facility for addiction and recovery treatment. This included a dual diagnosis treatment tract for severely mentally ill patients with combined addiction problems.

Dr. Gilbreath’s specific areas of interest are consult liaison psychiatry, mood disorders, and substance abuse in children and adolescents. Experience includes teaching family practice residents, medical students, and physician assistants. He has supervised residents, nurse practitioners, and social workers. And he regularly provides psychiatric and mental health lectures to various facilities. He has lived in the Treasure Valley for many years, and is in private practice at 413 N Allumbaugh, Boise, Idaho.
